Iran Signs Contracts for $1.5bn Aluminum Smelter
On 24 November Iran signed contracts worth $1.5mn for the construction of a220,000 ton/year aluminum smelter that will be built near the Gulf port city ofBandar Abbas. The smelter is Iran's first major export-oriented joint-ventureproject and is named the Al Mahdi Aluminium Corporation.
