UN Border Commission Awards Parts of Rumaila and Umm Qasr to Kuwait
The United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Boundary Demarcation Commission, establishedin April 1991 to determine the border between Iraq and Kuwait, has recommendedto the Security Council that the border be moved northward by some 570 meters inthe Safwan area, giving Kuwait part of the Rumaila oilfield. The commission alsogives Kuwait part of the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr, where Iraq's main naval base...
