Kurds Call For UN Supervision Of Kirkuk Oil Fields
The Prime Minister of the Kurdish-controlled area in North Iraq, Mr. FuadMa'sum, has asked the United Nations to assume responsibility for productionoperations in northern Iraqi oilfields in the Kirkuk region. The Kirkukoilfields, which have a current production capacity of some 800,000 b/d, arelocated in an area which is presently under the control of the Iraqi Government.
