Bush Continues Extension of Sanctions Against Libya

On 2 January, President George Bush ordered that US economic sanctionscurrently in force against Libya should be extended for a further 12-monthperiod. The sanctions were originally instituted by President Reagan in January1986 and have been renewed on an annual basis since then.
