UN Sanctions Committee Postpones Decision on Iraq's Request to Export Oilfor Emergency Needs
The Security Council's Sanctions Committee postponed on 11 July a request byIraq to export $1.5bn worth of oil to buy food, medicine and agriculturalsupplies. The embargo against Iraq has exempted supplies for humanitarian purposes, but the Sanctions Committee has not allowed the limited sale of oil tofinance such purchases.
