Construction Starts on New Fiat Assembly Plant
Italian President Francesco Cossiga on 14 November laid the foundation stonefor a $260mn car assembly plant at Tiaret, 210 kms. southwest of Algiers. Theplant, a joint-venture project with Algeria's Enterprise Nationale de Productionde Vehicules Particuliers (ENPVP), is capitalized at $51mn, with Fiat holding a36.4% interest and ENPVP the rest.
