Oman Deficit Widened in 1988, Improvement Expected in 1989
The Omani Government's budget deficit was larger than forecast during 1988 asa result of lower than expected oil revenues, figures recently published inMuscat show. However, remarks attributed to senior Omani officials indicatethat the 1989 deficit, which was forecast at $1.1bn, will be cut dramatically,and may indeed be replaced by the first budget surplus...
