East Europe Represents Sizeable Market for OPEC
Net oil imports by Eastern European countries (excluding Albania) totaled1.568mn b/d in 1989, according to a recent study by Antonio M. Szabo, Presidentof Bonner and Moore Management Science. Mr. Szabo notes that this large marketmust be of considerable significance to OPEC oil suppliers, particularly thosein the Middle East, given the potential reduction of East Europe's dependence onSoviet oil supplies....
