Bahrain's Trade Deficit Widens in 1989
Bahrain had a trade deficit of BD97.2mn ($258mn) in 1989, a 42% increase on1988, according to figures published by the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA). Theincrease was due to a big rise in the cost of oil imports, which outstripped increased revenues from oil exports, and to a rise in non-oil imports.
