Sonatrach and BHP Sign Joint Venture Agreement
The Algerian state oil company Sonatrach and BHP Petroleum, the oil arm ofBroken Hill Proprietary Company of Australia, have signed a joint venturecontract for petroleum exploration and development in two blocks in the GhadamesBasin in southeastern Algeria. The two blocks, designated Rhourde el-Loul and IsFatima, cover a total acreage of 7,326 sq. kms.
