Reagan Eases Ban on US Oil Companies in Libya
In a last minute move prior to his departure from the White House, PresidentRonald Reagan agreed to modify the US trade sanctions against Libya to allowfive US oil companies (Conoco, Marathon, Amerada-Hess, Occidental and W.RGrace) operating there to transfer their entities to foreign structures inorder to facilitate their Libyan operations which were halted by the 1986economic sanctions (MEES, 13 January 1986)....
