Jordan Denies Asking for IMF Support and Reschedulings

In an apparent attempt to shrug off Jordan's new-found status as a distresseddebtor nation, its Prime Minister, Mr. Zaid al-Rifa'i, last week denied reportsthat his government is negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF)for a standby credit or that it has asked the Paris Club to reschedule part ofits $6bn foreign debt.
