USSR Doubles Liftings of OPEC Crude
The USSR more than doubled its liftings of crude oil from OPEC countriesduring the first nine months of 1988. According to statistics quoted in themonthly journal Eastern Bloc Energy, the Soviet union lifted 18.37mn tons(501,000 b/d) of OPEC in Jan.-Sept. 1988, as compared with 9.07mn tons (247,000b/d) in the same period of 1987.
