Basrah Refinery Re-Started
Mr. Isam al-Chalabi, the Iraqi Oil Minister, announced in Basrah on 6 Marchthat the 140,000 b/d Basrah refinery at al-Shu'aibah was ready to start up afteran intensive repair program. The plant was closed down during the eight-yearlong Gulf war because of its proximity to the war zone and the damage itsustained.
