Gupco Discoveries Oil in New Formation in South Gharib Field
Gupco (EGPC/Amoco) has encountered oil in a new formation - the Nubia"A" sandstone - in the South Gharib field in the Gulf of Suez. Thediscovery well tested at a rate of 4,300 b/d of crude oil from a 128-ft. payzone reportedly at a depth of about 6,000 ft. Egyptian Oil Minister Abd El-HadyKandil has requested the company to speed up the appraisal and development ofthe discovery.
