Suez Canal Transits and Revenues Up, Oil Flow Down in 1988
The volume of petroleum passing through the Suez Canal in both directionsfell by 17.17% to 72,930,000 tons in 1988 from 88,040,000 tons in 1987.Northbound petroleum fell by 24.70% to 57,080,000 tons (35,011,000 tons of crudeoil and 22,069,000 tons of petroleum products) in 1988 from 75,794,000 tons(48,756,000 tons of crude oil and 27,038,000 tons of petroleum products) in1987.
