Arab External Debt Measured at $111.3bn in 1988
Figures compiled by the OECD in Paris and the Bank for InternationalSettlements (BIS) in Basle indicate that the Arab countries' external debttotalled $111.3bn at the end of 1988. $82bn of this figure represented externaldebts to banks, and the remainder comprised non-bank trade-related credits (i.e.principally loans from OECD member states' export credit agencies).
