USSR Spuds First Well in Iranian Section of Caspian Sea
A Soviet team has spudded the first well to be drilled in the Iranian sectionof the Caspian Sea at some 17 miles off the Iranian port of Bandar Anzali. Thedrilling is being undertaken from the Kaspi-2 jack-up platform, which has acapacity to drill to depths of up to 20,000 feet in 230 feet of water.
