US Congress Endorses Ban on Imports from Iran
In a move which even its supporters said was only a symbolic gesture, theUS Congress on 6 October passed legislation which imposes a blanket ban on allimports from Iran. The bill, passed by the Senate on a 93-0 vote and by theHouse of Representatives 407-5, makes the import ban mandatory until Iranhalts belligerent acts against Gulf shipping, but allows the President amaximum six-month delay in implementing the ban...
