Although the disturbances in the Israeli-occupied territories have dieddown somewhat, the political repercussions have continued, with mounting callsfor the convening of an international conference on the Middle East conflict.The pressure has, however, had little apparent effect in denting therejectionism of Israel's hardline Prime Minister Mr. Shamir, or the reluctanceof the US to get involved in a major initiative in an election year....
