Iraqi President Describes Decision to Diversify Export Outlets
Iraqi President Saddam Husain has revealed that the decision to diversifythe country's oil export outlets was taken shortly after the nationalizations offoreign oil companies in 1972/73 as a result of "coordination" bySyria and Lebanon to raise the transit fees for the pipeline linking Iraq'snorthern oil fields to Tripoli and Banias on the Mediterranean.
