Uproar over New Figures for Undiscovered US Reserves
A new study of US oil and gas reserves by the Geological Survey of theDepartment of the Interior has reduced the estimates of undiscovered oil and gasin the US by some 40%. The report puts undiscovered oil reserves at 33.4bnbarrels, down from 54.6bn barrels in the last survey in 1981, while the figurefor gas has fallen from 426 trillion cubic feet in 1981 to 254 trillion cu. ft.
