Red Sea Desalination Plant Commissioned
King Fahd of Saudi Arabia last week inaugurated the new desalination andpower plant at Shutaiba on the Red Sea, some 100 kms. southwest of Mecca. Thenew plant, which has a capacity to produce 40mn gallons/day of sweet water and325 megawatts will supply 25mn gallons/day to Mecca and 15mn gallons/day to Taifvia a pipeline network.
