Suez Canal: Vessel Transits Down, Oil Cargo Up in 1986
There was a considerable increase in the volume of oil passing through the Suez Canal in 1986, despite a drop in the number of vessel transits. Northbound crude oil and products totaled 92.2mn tons in 1986, up 12.7% from 1985. Of this, crude oil accounted for 65.4mn tons, up 23.2% from 1985.
