Negotiations to Rebuild Osirac Nuclear Reactor
The French Ambassador to Kuwait, Mr. Marcel Lougel, told the Kuwait-daily al-Anba on 20 July that secret negotiations are under way between Iraq and France on rebuilding the Osirac nuclear reactor, which was destroyed by Israeli jets on 7 June 1981. The French official declined to provide further information, except to say that the outcome of the negotiations will be kept confidential.
Iraq has in the meantime gone ahead with a project...
