Second Pipeline to Start Soon
According to Mr. Issam al-Chalabi, the Iraqi Oil Minister, the 46-inch, 920-km. second Iraqi-Turkish pipeline will start up in the next few days. The Iraqi official told the Baghdad daily al-Oadisiya on 23 July that the line's 500,000-b/d additional capacity will bring the total export capacity of the pipeline system to 1.5mn b/d. Iraq is currently producing around 2.2mn b/d (MEES, 6 July).
