Distrigas Terminates Algerian LNG Deal
Distrigas Corp. of the US has filed a bankruptcy petition in Boston, Massachusetts, and according to a company spokesman now regards its contract with the Algerian national oil company Sonatrach to purchase 1.2bn cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually as terminated. The contract, signed in 1976 (MEES, 26 April 1976), covered deliveries over 20 years beginning in 1987.
