Kandil Reiterates Concern at Mounting Oil Consumption in Egypt
Egyptian Oil Minister Abd El-Hady Kandil has again expressed concern at the mounting consumption of petroleum products in Egypt. Writing in the Cairo daily al-Ahram of 10 October, Mr. Kandil said that the domestic consumption of products increased at an average annual rate of 12% in 1970-80 and 15% in 1980-84 from 5.9mn tons in 1970 to 13mn tons in 1980 and 20.7mn tons in 1984.
