Reagan Rules Out Tax on Oil Imports
President Reagan has ruled out a tax on oil imports as part of the program to reduce the US government deficit, according to reports from Washington. At a meeting with Republican senators on 22 January, Mr. Reagan said that he would reject any proposals for either an oil import tax or a value added tax -both of which are under active consideration in Congress.
