Mexico Retreats on Debt Demands
Mexico has abandoned the two cornerstones of its recent foreign debt strategy, the request for extra money and the attempt to reduce interest rates. Its Finance Minister, Mr. Jesus Silva Herzog, last week announced that Mexico would only seek $4bn in foreign borrowing this year - less than its original $4.1bn target set before the decline of oil prices, and substantially lower than the $6bn requested...
