Iraqi Air Attack Damages Tehran Refinery
The 200,000 b/d Tehran refinery was attacked and damaged by Iraqi aircraft in a raid on 7 May. Although the extent of the damage and the exact units hit remain unknown, MEES enquiries indicate that the refinery has ceased operation for the time being. An Oil Ministry spokesman in Tehran is quoted as saying that "in general when repairing refineries, checks have to be made that all is 100% okay before it is started up again."
