IBRD Lends Syria $70bn
The World Bank has agreed to lend Syria $70mn for sewerage projects to combat urban and industrial pollution and improve health conditions in Aleppo, the country's second largest city. The $211.61mn project, which will begin operating in 1991, is also funded by the Syrian Government ($123.58mn), the European Investment Bank ($12.04mn), and the Aleppo General Company for Sewerage ($5.99mn).
