Lebanon Releases Reserve Requirements
The Banque du Liban (central bank) has relaxed reserve requirements as part of a trade-off with commercial banks whereby the latter will resume their purchases of treasury bills and thereby relieve some of the pressure on the Banque du Liban to finance the government by direct lending. The minimum reserve requirement is reduced from 22% to 10%, which can be reduced further to 8% if banks keep more than 50%...
