Iran Attacks Philippine Tanker near Strait of Hormuz
On 23 June an Iranian helicopter attacked the Philippine-registered 96,954 dwt tanker Diego Silang some 40 miles from the strategic Strait of Hormuz (latitude 25.47 north and longitude 55.32 east). The vessel, fully loaded at the time with Saudi crude, was struck at 0800 GMT by a missile which set it on fire, killing one crewman and injuring four.
