Inauguration of $600mn Hydro-Electric Project 

A $600mn 660 megawatt hydro-power plant on the Euphrates river in western Iraq, built by a Yugoslav consortium headed by Hidrograndja, was inaugurated on 28 July. The first two power transformers, each of 110 megawatts, were commissioned, with two more to be started later this year and the last two in the Spring of 1987.
