Yugoslav-Turkish Consortium to Build $1.5bn Bekhme Dam and Power Plant
A consortium made up of the Turkish Enkaa Insaat ve Sanayi and Yugoslavia's Hydrogradnja signed a contract in Baghdad on 29 September for ID460mn ($1.5bn) to construct the Bekhme dam and a hydroelectric power plant with a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts at the Great Zab river in northern Iraq, some 20 kms. south of the Turkish border.
