Pecten's Exploration Term Extended Six Years
Syrian President Hafiz al-Asad has issued a presidential decree extending the exploration period for Pecten's Dair al-Zur concession, north of Palmyra, by six years starting 30 June 1984. The 21,800-sq. km. production-sharing concession was granted to Pecten (US Shell) in December 1977, and the current shareholders are Pecten (31.25%), Royal Dutch/Shell (31.25%) and West Germany's Deminex (37.5%). Pecten is the operator.
