GPC to Boost Ras Gharib Field's Recovery Rate

The Egyptian state-owned General Petroleum Company (GPC) has decided to embark on a gas injection and steam flood project to boost from 8% to 14% the recovery factor of its Ras Gharib oil field west of the Gulf of Suez. The field, one of Egypt's oldest (it was discovered in 1938), has been suffering from declining output which is now running at about 5,700 b/d.
