ICJ Issues Ruling on Continental Shelf Dispute
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled last week by a vote of 14-3 to adjust the median line between Libya and Malta 18 nautical miles northwards, giving Libya greater control over the continental shelf between the two countries. The suggested line runs parallel to the coasts of the two states starting at 34 degs. 30 min. north, 15 degs. 10 min. west, and running west-north-west to 13 degs. 50 min. north.
