Egypt's Refinery Expansion Plans
Egypt's current plans call for the construction of 10.1mn tons/year (202,000 b/d) of refining capacity within the next two or three years, rising to about 12.6mn t/y (252,000 b/d) in a subsequent stage. The country's existing refining capacity stands at around 19mn t/y (380,000 b/d).
The initial expansion stage provides for the construction of a 2.5mn t/y (50,000b/d) refinery at Assiut in Upper Egypt and a 5.6mn t/y (112,000-b/d)...
