Qatar In Talks To Buy Stakes In Shell And Eni
Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund (SWF) has swung away from its initial mandate to diversify from hydrocarbons, and is investing in overseas energy firms. It is in “very advanced talks” to buy 3-5% of Shell’s equity, and is also negotiating a stake in Italy’s Eni following its recent purchase of a 3% stake in Total, Nick Wilson writes.
