Kuwait Parliament Pushes For Fresh Elections
Kuwait’s parliament failed to swear in a new cabinet on 31 July due to lawmakers boycotting the session. They aim to force the Amir to dissolve the parliament and call new elections – probably for October (MEES, 30 July). A constitutional court in June dissolved an opposition-dominated parliament and reinstated the previous one, which was less hostile to the government, elected in 2009.
