Mauritania Looks To Offshore Gas To Fuel Its Energy Future
Mauritania’s long-undeveloped offshore gas reserves are set for exploitation via one or more gas-fired power plants and possible exports of both gas and electricity to neighbouring Senegal. Production is planned from 2015 but final go-ahead awaits a gas supply deal with Irish independent Tullow Oil, the country’s key offshore operator, James Cockayne reports.
