Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi has made it clear that he intends to play a more assertive and independent regional and international role - and that he supports regime change in Syria. Both he and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon have participated in the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran, and both have openly criticized their Iranian hosts.
