Qatar Pledges Cash Assistance To Darfur
At a donor conference held in Doha on 8 April, Qatar pledged $500mn to assist Sudan in rebuilding its war-torn Darfur region, in a move at least in part motivated by its robust regional foreign policy goals.
With its deep pockets, the Gulf country has busily supported various Middle East and North African governments and political movements in the wake of regional unrest that began in 2011.
