EU Renews Sanctions On Syria
The European Union (EU) on 27 May agreed a 1-year renewal of restrictive financial and economic measures against Syria. But it failed to agree on amending an arms embargo and allowed a ban on arming the Syrian opposition to expire. The latter came after Britain and France brought their pressure to bear.
However these two countries made a commitment not to deliver arms to the opposition at least until 1 August. EU sanctions...
