Bomb Hits Lukoil Basra Offices
The wave of political violence that has swept Baghdad and northern Iraq in recent months is beginning to spill over into Basra province, the epicenter of the country’s oil industry.
June witnessed an uptick in bombings in the southern province and on 2 July two bombs exploded outside the Mnawi Basha hotel, home to the Basra offices of Russian oil giant Lukoil, operator of the 1.2mn b/d West Qurna-2 project.
