Blast Shuts Egypt-Jordan Pipeline
Egyptian gas supplies to Jordan via the Arab Gas Pipeline (AGP) were disrupted at the weekend following an explosion near the Egyptian city of al-‘Arish on 6 July in the lawless Sinai peninsula, known to home hardline Islamist groups. It was not clear who was responsible for the sixteenth attack on the pipeline since the overthrow of Mubarak in January 2011, albeit the first since last July.
