Jordan Picks Rosatom For Reactor As MENA Nuclear Impetus Builds

The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) announced on 28 October that it has selected Russian state nuclear power company Rosatom as the preferred bidder to build a 1GW nuclear power plant in the Amra region, 60km east of Zarqa.

Official news agency Petra said the plant is expected to deliver 12% of the kingdom’s electricity needs when it starts up in 2020.
