Iraq Notches Up Output Records But Trouble Looms

Iraq posted its three highest ever crude output figures in June, July and August – the first months over 4mn b/d. But problems are mounting.

July’s 4.25mn b/d may remain the high water mark for some time to come. The country is being forced to burn record volumes of crude in an often futile attempt to keep the lights on (see p8), while flaring record volumes of gas: testament to a system stretched to the limit.
